block busted, only to be replaced

I coudln't bring myself to write for more than a week at the start of the year, but now I'm at around 12k total, which feels nice.  It's all work smut, but still.

Today's gonna be another busy day.   I have paid work to do, and then once some of that's cleared, I want to write something cute for a sick friend.  I've been having trouble focusing all morning, but!  I need!  To write anyway!

(Why does the tool I use for writing also have to be a distraction machine of limitless potential?)

what I did on january 1st, 2020

Basically nothing.

I mean, okay, I went to work, but then I went home and crashed face-first through about twelve consecutive hours of sleep.

See, I've been working two jobs for the last few years, until a few days ago.  And my last week at my now-dead second job was particularly thick with hours.  My scheduling manager there might have been trying to do me a favor by giving me a little extra cash before setting me loose, or she might have been exacting cruel revenge for leaving the company in the immediate wake of the holiday season.

Either way, my last while has been an endless string of double shifts, and I came out of them pretty severely sleep deprived.  Like, three or four hours most nights.  And that's over now, but...I had a lot to catch up on.

I think I might have crammed a very brief session of Fire Emblem: Three Houses in -- maybe about an hour -- before sleep took me.  I think my battery was actually on the verge of dying, last I remember, but I'm deeply in denial about the likelihood that I lost that much gameplay in one go.  We'll see once I light the thing up again.  Prolly not in what's left of today, though, I've got writing to do.

Speaking of, not the most auspicious start to this year's writing goal!
